Day Four

Very chill Saturday. Closest I’ve had to an average, uneventful day on the trip. Woke up in the Military Vehicle Museum lot around 7:30, and got to see Wyoming by day. Gorgeous, striated cliffs all around. Not as stunning as Montana though, tbh.

Doubled back to Dubois for internet and coffee. Did not ride the Jackalope…but I could have.

Covered some good ground today. The harrowing inclines of Wyoming seem largely behind me and the bus, knock on wood.

Left town, and cruised down the road to the Wind River Casino. Not a super-gambler, but I’ll wager on a couple roulette spins. Hit on black, hit on odd, turned my $20 into $50, whittled it down to $30 by feeding a Chinese-Luck-themed slot machine, and walked out with a $10 surplus and a complimentary cup of coffee.

Bus perk: Insanely easy to remember where you parked.

Buoyed by yesterday’s successful night drive, I pushed on to Casper. Speed limit was 70 most of the way, and the bus managed it without complaint. Easiest 200 miles I’ve driven so far.

Made it to Casper a little after nine — decided to check out the bowling alley in town. Decent Saturday vibes. Bowled two atrocious games, a mediocre third, swapped my shoes back and bopped across the street to bed town in a grocery store parking lot.

Crossing into Nebraska tomorrow.
